Cities, Public Places and people

We humans are truly complex creatures, we delve around in spaces creating identities which at times even we are not very aware of. When we travel around through cities as an outsider, we see many thoughts many spaces that make what the city is all about. May be generalizations or even pure facade...but cities do have an identity and that in turn surely affects its citizens......

Sitting across a public place as an audience gives a wide range of people to observe...especially when you are all alone and keen on looking around you. Take for example an airport...you see families capturing their final moments with their loved ones...kids running around or even crying to the fear of the crowd...taxi drivers waiting with name plates of unknown faces...looking for a perfect match. And then there are the guards doing their jobs without losing their cool...some guy rushes in delayed for his flight...while some other relishing the eatables around waiting lavishly....some business guys in their crisp identities walking with a purpose...while some college gang enjoying the freedom of going all alone....couples cuddling in on the bench giving assurance to each...its a moment for everyone...a life of their own in a giant canvas that some others like me sit and observe.
Each of these individuals have an emotion, a purpose a way of life...and that common place brings out that plethora of identities on the same canvas.

Perhaps cities are a conglomeration of all these identities...all these mindsets or are they just impositions of thoughts to be called as someone who belongs from there....its surely our disability that we humans may not be able to see cities like each of these individuals interacting in a common space. But in real they almost are...deeper we try to get a gist of each city, perhaps it has its own culture and traditions. History, geography or even economics may impact these cities....but in the end ...what makes a city are these people who create identities of themselves...their families...their towns and hence over time their cities.

And the beauty of this diversity...is the same set of individuals called humans..
